We are an independent agency with access to multiple standard carriers, trucking specialty markets, and E&S (excess and surplus) markets. Availability and eligibility vary by coverage, location, and insurer. Carrier names identify companies Kaufman Insurance Group may access as an independent agency and do not imply endorsement.
E&S markets are excess and surplus lines carriers. They cover trucking risk that standard carriers turn down, like new authorities, high-risk commodities, or drivers with a rough record.

Rate factors
Carriers look at the operation, not just the truck. These details give them the risk picture they need.
Every carrier rates these differently, which is why the same truck can come back at two different prices. We won't know what yours costs until we get you a quote. Often it isn't as expensive as we think it will be.

A trucking certificate of insurance is a service document that summarizes selected information about your policy. It may show the named insured, insurance carrier, policy number, effective dates, liability limits, cargo limits and certain requested interests. A broker or shipper uses it to check whether the insurance program appears to meet the contract requirement before assigning work.
The certificate does not rewrite the policy. It cannot remove an exclusion, expand a limit or promise that a loss will be covered. If the request includes wording that needs an endorsement or additional insured status, the agency must review it with the carrier. That is why a COI request should include the actual contract language and not just a last-minute message that says “send proof.”
Send the certificate holder name and address, recipient or broker instructions, required liability and cargo limits, effective date, policy number if known, additional insured or waiver wording, loss payee or lessor details and the deadline. Also say which truck, fleet or policy the request relates to. A complete request gives the policy-services team fewer details to chase.
Brokers may check primary auto liability, motor truck cargo, policy dates, the named insured and whether the limits match the load or contract. A shipper may request a $100,000 cargo limit, a particular liability limit or an additional insured endorsement. A lender or lessor may request loss-payee or lessor wording for physical damage. These are different requests and should not be treated as identical.
If a request is higher than your current limit, do not ask the certificate to show an amount the policy does not provide. Ask for a coverage review first. The agency can discuss whether the limit, commodity, endorsement or effective date can be arranged with the carrier, subject to underwriting and policy terms.
Kaufman Insurance Group offers certificate service as part of its policy-services work. The team can process a request when the policy is active, the recipient is identified and the requested information matches the policy. Timing depends on carrier response, the type of wording requested and whether an endorsement must be approved first.
If you need a certificate quickly, send the request through the quote form or call 330-486-8404. Include the deadline and say whether the request is for a broker, shipper, customer, carrier, lender or lessor. The team can then determine whether it is a routine certificate or a change that needs carrier review.
Check contract insurance requirements when you are negotiating the work. A requested additional insured endorsement, higher cargo limit or special certificate wording may take more review than a standard document. Early notice gives you time to discuss an option before a pickup appointment is missed.
Your COI is only as useful as the policy behind it. Review whether the listed vehicle, cargo and authority match the work you are taking. A certificate can show a cargo limit while the commodity is excluded or subject to a sublimit. It can show liability while the contract requires an endorsement not yet arranged. Read the policy and contract together.
Owner-operators, box truck contractors, fleets and independent contractors can each receive different certificate requests. If you are leased to a carrier, the carrier may issue the certificate for its primary liability while you need your own certificate for cargo, physical damage or another policy. Ask who is supposed to issue each document.
Trucking Insurance Experts — by Kaufman Insurance Group. We can help review the request against the policy and coordinate available certificate service. Use the quote form or call 330-486-8404 to start the request.
Have your certificate holder, required limits, policy details and deadline ready. If you are also looking for a new commercial truck insurance quote, say that in the form. A certificate request for an existing policy and a request to build new coverage are different service needs, and identifying which one you have helps the conversation start in the right place.

A certificate of insurance, or COI, summarizes selected policy information such as the insured, policy dates, limits and certain endorsements or interests. It is evidence of coverage information; it does not change the policy or add coverage by itself.
Brokers, shippers, customers and contract partners may ask for a COI to confirm that you have the liability, cargo or other limits required for the work. They may also ask for specific wording, additional insured status or a certificate holder, so send us the request.
We won't know how quickly it can be issued until we see the request, policy and required wording. Send it through the quote form or call 330-486-8404 with the deadline, recipient and required limits so we can review it.
No. A certificate cannot create coverage, change an exclusion or promise a limit that the policy does not provide. If a contract needs an endorsement or additional insured status, we send the request for review and arrange it with the carrier when available.
Have your truck and trailer details, driver experience and records, cargo, operating radius, authority status, current limits and loss history ready. A broker, shipper or lender requirement can also affect the quote, so send that along too.
Yes. We take your account to the trucking markets we write with and explain the differences in limits, deductibles, exclusions and eligibility. You get to see what fits your specific situation.
